Over the coming weeks, I'll be participating in a lovely little project 'The Discover Diaries'. Bugaboo have very generously given Sunny and I a new set of wheels - a Bugaboo Buffalo. Trust me, it's not every day the blog brings perks like that in to my life - but being a genuine Bugaboo fan (see our original one in these photos), I'm more than happy to say 'I completely love and endorse this pram'. I'm going to be documenting some of our 'Buffalo Adventures' on here. It's maiden voyage happened to coincide with my Nanny Enid's 88th birthday recently...
There was babies and smiles all around to celebrate. I'm not sure if I have talked about Enid much on here before, but the word 'devoted' doesn't do the family matriarch justice as a grandma. A favourite past time of mine is to sit with a cup of tea and shortbread and listen to my Nan's stories...like the one where one Christmas her family were so poor, all she wanted was a banana. Santa delivered a single banana that year to the end of her bed. Enid was widowed at 48, but picked herself up from suburbia and went on to own a pub in the country town of Tilba in the 1970's. Enid still does my tax returns every year...and is a devoted iphone and online bank user. Honestly, she's a rare gem. To now see her as a cuddly lap to 6 small people from the next generation is heartwarming.
We gathered at The Marina Cafe in Church Point (a truly beautiful part of the world - and they include chunks of honeycomb with their pancakes). We finished the day with a home made cake, Enid's favourite - a passionfruit sponge .We then poured over a collection of old family photos. Note to a 15 year old self - stay away from beaded hair braids in Fiji.
I hope you all had a great weekend!
